eye, robot

@ CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF THE ARTS

SOFTWARE:  Rhino, Grasshopper, Kuka PRC

""Eye, Robot" focuses on the intersection of computational design, motion control, and robotic fabrication. The course explored industrial robotics as a creative medium for design research in architecture and beyond. The projects enabled  unique workflows to be developed that explored the relationship between the digital and the physical, while learning the fundamentals of robotics."

interactive surfaces

@ CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF THE ARTS

SOFTWARE: Rhino, Grasshopper, Firefly, Arduino, Xbox 360 Kinect

Spatial Flipping experiments with the potential use of interactive technologies within the field of architecture.  Our group designed and proto-typed a louvered wall system that senses a persons distance on either side and actuates a motor to twist open the louver accordingly.

modULAR variATIONS

@ UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA - TWIN CITIES

SOFTWARE: Rhino, Grasshopper, Illustrator

As a class of 15 students, we worked to create a full-scale concrete wall which consisted of varying modular components.  We developed a system of molds that could be reused to cast each concrete module, built as wooden hexagon boxes with a rubber bladder.  Variation was generated by twisting the mold to produce varying sizes of apertures with corresponding resultant concrete textures.
