THE LOST AQUATOPIA
M.ARCH ADVANCED STUDIO @ CCA
SOFTWARE: Unreal Engine, Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe Premiere
The Lost Aquatopia is a virutal enviroment that captures the experience of subaqueous habitation utilizing video game software. The real-time feedback loop of this software facilitated the design exploration of scale, multiplicity of elements, materiality, and form. By studying these elements in the virtual reality matrix the final design acknowledges their importance to understanding how to move throughout the space. Additionally, it enabled moments of curation to be discovered by the occupant as well as cues to indicate transitions into different spaces. The design intent focused on connecting the experience of the underwater environment to its inhabitants, and is supported by a narrative of the discovery of a lost underwater testing facility.
